Ashley and Leslie Saunders
Ashley and Leslie Saunders are twin sister filmmakers based in Austin, Tx and the founders of Saunders Sisters Productions. They earned their B.S. at the University of Texas at Austin, focusing on writing, directing, and producing. Their award winning short films have played internationally at festivals including SXSW, Los Angles Reel Film Festival, Action on Film Festival, and the Female Eye Film Festival in Toronto, Canada. The most recent short film the sisters produced received a Gold Medal at the Student Academy Awards.
Ashley and Leslie have worked for prestigious filmmakers within the industry including Academy Award nominated filmmaker Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, Before Midnight) and famed Spanish director Emilio Aragón. Ashley worked as field producer and series production coordinator for Linklater’s Hulu television series, Up To Speed, a quirky travel show featuring unique monuments across the United States. Leslie worked alongside the producing team for Robert Duvall’s latest film, A Night in Old Mexico, directed by Emilio Aragón and shot in Brownsville, TX.
The sisters are currently in development of their debut feature film about twin sisters who are born into a United States that has adopted a one-child policy. Twin sisters Ava and Mira are forced to go on the run and leave everything they’ve known behind- finding adventure, friends, knowledge, and most importantly, themselves, along the way.
When not working on films, Ashley and Leslie enjoy running around with their Boston Terriers and soaking up the Austin sun at Barton Springs.
